The News, Talk, Sights and Sounds of the Warfleigh Neighborhood

Imagine my surprise when the cat that I thought was lost and then reunited with its owner appeared again in my yard.

Apparently, the cat was not lost at all, but rather allowed to roam throughout the neighborhood. This black, female cat is friendly, but has no collar.

When the owner picked up the cat last week, I mentioned that Marion County had ordinances that prohibit allowing domesticated animals to run. Dogs, cats, ferrets and other kinds of pets are required to be under a human's control at all times. That means a leash or some type of confinement that will not allow the pet to run the neighborhood.

There's also an ordinance that requires pets to have a permanent ID tag or microchip.

I apologize for the lost cat alert.

The birds at my feeders, my dog, cat and I would appreciate some consideration from the owner for the ordinances and his neighbors. This has presented me with a terrible quandary. When I put out the alert a couple of weeks ago, I'd found someone in Boone County who would have taken the cat. Had I not found someone, the crittur would have gone to the pound. Now that I know who the owner is and where he lives, I'm not sure what to do when the cat shows up in my yard again.
