Hi Jo Ellen, enjoyed your column in yesterday's paper - we had folks visiting w/us from Fr. Wayne so we all went down to Garfield Park. What a hidden gem of a place. To top things off, we saw a bald eagle flying round the creek. I an going to put this on my list of places to visit routinely. Thanks, Bridget Carson
Bridget -- thanks for your comments. I grew up around Garfield Park, so it's the park of my youth. I'm on the board of the Friends of Garfield Park. So glad it will be on your list of great places to go. In summer, the Sunken Gardens are planted. We have several concerts there and at the MacAllister Center, including one with Cathy Morris. The Art Center also has terrific exhibitions. Right now, it's Black Pearls. In the past, we've had a traveling exhibit from the Smithsonian, photo exhibits and many others. Kids take after school and summer classes in the arts, including music and dance. Can you tell I really am proud of Garfield?
