Could anyone give me more information on the odds of getting into school 84 for a kid who has no older siblings but lives in Warfleigh?  I haven't been able to find much online.  I'd love to know how…Continue

I've heard that two people inside the School 84 boundary were not accepted and that a student from Irvington was (with no sibling already at the school).  Has anyone else heard of similar events?

Number One Magnet Elementary School in America 2011! Way to go CFI!

We had really hoped to send our daughter there this year but didn't make the cut.  Instead, IPS intended to bus her out to 38th & Post every day, but...  we weren't really on board with that.

We're VERY happy with the school she's attending, but I do still get a little pang every morning that I drive by 84.  It's a terrific school!  Wish we could have been a part of it.

It's a shame you are missing out on School 91 -- short term pain on temp location--  far outweighed by the quality of the school.  May be one of best in city.

This blog seems to sum up our understanding exactly so far on CFI 84.  We are 1 year behind the author - our daughter set to start Kindergarten in Fall 2013.  Seems frustrating, and appears it won't get any better for us next year.  Is there any hope for getting into 84?  Anyone out there with some success stories to counter the perspective of this blog?

Look at School 91 -- if you don't at least visit, you won't know what you are missing.  If you are on the School 84 wait list, visit School 91.  I have students at both great schools.

Our son got in for this coming Fall through the lottery, no waitlist thankfully, luck of the draw.  He is our oldest to so no sibling/legacy break there.  The highest waitlist number I've heard of for this fall is 22.  Not sure how high it is at.  From my understanding if you get on the waitlist in the top 12 or so your chances are decent at getting your kids in.

Jeff and Ryan - thanks for the info.  Both are helpful!
