Single Republican Senator Blocks Delay of Biggert-Waters Act (Senator Mike Crapo)

WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Senators Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., Robert Menendez, D-N.J., Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., Bill Nelson, D-F.L., Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D., and Ed Markey, D-Mass., requested Unanimous Consent to bring up their Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act for a vote by the full Senate in the coming days. This legislation would fix major flaws in the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform law to make the National Flood Insurance Program affordable, accessible and self-sustainable. Despite the importance of this legislation for policyholders across the country, including more than 7,000 in Idaho, Senator Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, objected to even allowing a vote on the bill. Sen. Landrieu vowed to come back to the floor every day if needed until the Senate votes on this critical legislation

Thanks for the info Jim.  I just sent Sen. Crapo an email voicing our concern over his decision or general lack of knowledge associated with this bill.  Figure it couldn't hurt!

I just wrote Sen. Crapo…(appropriate name, eh?)   Flood his email with your distain for his actions!!!

I just called Senator Crapo's office to complain about his blocking the vote on bill 1610s. Not sure it made much difference as I am not one of his constituents, but if we can get many of us to call his office maybe he will get the message!

I sent an e-mail to Senator Crapo too.
