The Warfleigh Neighborhood Association (WNA) is looking for volunteers to run for office. The WNA is seeking to fill the positions of president, vice president/treasurer, and secretary, plus committee chairs for Events, Crime Watch, and Fundraising. Elections will be held at the next WNA meeting on Sunday, October 4 at 5 pm at Trinity Church at the southeast corner of Westfield Boulevard and Central Avenue.
Because each of these officer positions would be new, the candidates will have a lot of input as to the activities to be included as job responsibilities. This is a brief outline of what’s included:
• President: Spokesperson for WNA and neighborhood liaison to the City of Indianapolis, Broad Ripple Village Association, as well as other neighborhood groups.
• Vice President/Treasurer: Assist the president and track income for the WNA. Income to date has been in the form of donations to support the neighborhood picnic.
• Secretary: Take minutes of the meetings, maintain the meeting schedule and send announcements of news and events to the neighborhood via the email distribution list and web site.
• Chairs for Fundraising, Crime/Watch, and Events will work with the leadership to plan neighborhood activities and recruit volunteers to assist as needed.
The WNA has been formed over the past few years and run by a group of volunteers. Meetings are held monthly. The election of officers is the next step in giving a more formal structure to the organization. WNA events and activities are maintained on this web site,
www.warfleigh.net. WNA has an active crime watch and held its first successful picnic in June.
