The News, Talk, Sights and Sounds of the Warfleigh Neighborhood

A man who looked to be a representative of AT&T came to my house at around 9 p.m. tonight. He looked somewhat official with AT&T clothing, ID badge and preprinted materials. However he just wrote a phone number on a scrap of paper and I called the number and it is not linked to AT&T. Did this man come to anyone else's house? Any reason for concern?

Interesting it didn't go to AT&T. I'd call their offices and tell them. I've seen them canvassing our neighborhood since the weekend, although they haven't been skipping houses - hitting every one sequentially. They just came to our house a minute ago selling U-verse. But he didn't seem to understand our technical question about why we didn't want it, which is odd now that I think about it. If I were trying to get door to door salespeople, I'd want them to know how the product works. Maybe they're desperate for good help?

The ATT guys came to our house at least a few months back...ive been enjoying a DVR ever since. But he was a young kid, didn't look too professional...just a part time sales gig.

Interesting...a young white man with short dark hair, wearing an bright orange T-shirt and dark gray shorts has knocked on our door three times in the past two days (4/28 and today, 4/29, mid to late afternoon). It looked like he was holding some kind of book. I never answered the door and simply yelled to him that I couldn't come to the door because I was on the phone. He apparently was with a young black man wearing an orange hat; their car was parked across the street from our house, on Wash. Blvd., just south of 64th St.. The car is a dark grayish color with a dent on the left passenger side. Although they shared the car, the two men were out canvassing separately. I called 911 and reported them as suspicious. When I called back to follow up, the 911 operator said they'd sent a patrol car out and that the individuals in question were with AT & T. Not sure what to do now - they hardly look like professional sales people!

The car, which is a kind of a beat-up looking Toyota Camry, is still parked across the street from our house. When I was last out walking our dog, I spotted the African-American guy with the orange stocking hat - he was sitting in the front yard of someone's house on Riverview, speaking with two older white women (potential "customers"?) I really hope they are legit. (If that is truly the case, then too bad for AT&T!) At any rate, I've got the LP # of the Camry.

My gut says they really ARE out trying to sell U-verse, etc.; I'm guessing AT&T probably outsources a lot of their work and that these people aren't trained very well - they're pretty much just out for the sale. Bad move on AT&T's part, especially in this day & age!
(OK, I promise I will stop replying to my own posts, LOL!)

My gut was right! It turns out they ARE legit and actually quite pleasant!

Joelle, you broke your promise. I just don't know who to trust now!

I knew I'd somehow get busted for that, LOL!

Like the old saying "you can't judge a book by its cover". Never can be too cautious though...
